We are currently dealing with an ongoing problem displaying digitized content (images, audio, video, documents, etc.) on DigitalCommonwealth.org.
Our cloud storage provider, Microsoft, has temporarily disabled access to the storage account used by Boston Public Library’s Digital & Online Services department to manage content in the Digital Commonwealth repository without any notification. The provider flagged historical photographic content as potentially violating content policies.
This issue is preventing all digitized content from all institutions hosted in the digital repository from being displayed at the moment. It’s important to note that no content has been deleted from the storage account. All file assets are still present and secure; it is only access to the account that has been temporarily disabled. The Digital Commonwealth site is still online and all collections and items are still discoverable; however, no images can currently be displayed.
BPL staff are actively working to resolve the problem as quickly as possible, and we appreciate your patience as we work to remedy the situation.
BPL will provide updates as more information becomes available. If you have any questions, please contact BPL Digital & Online Services department at bpldigital [at] bpl [dot] org.
